In fostering diversity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging (DIB) through an action-oriented culture, we enable employees to reach their full potential at work. We tie our strategic business objectives with DIB initiatives and assess our progress toward achieving them quarterly. Inclusive Leadership Initiative At Lumentum, we're committed to developing leaders who are inclusive and dedicated to the success of their employees. Our Inclusive Leadership learning journey is designed to provide leaders at all levels with information and skills around treating their team members equitably as well as providing the resources and support employees need to achieve their full potential. Initially targeting people leaders who are two years or less into their leadership role, this program teaches Situational Leadership concepts to increase agility and foster collaboration within a diverse workforce, drive innovation through cognitive diversity, and build an inclusive team culture that embraces the shift in how, when, and where we work.

Diversity Impact Award The Diversity Impact Award recognizes employees for their outstanding contributions to diversity, inclusion, and belonging at Lumentum.

Global DIB Council

A dedicated and diverse mix of global leaders representing all Lumentum business and functional areas—is integral to guiding and directing DIB initiatives. Jointly chaired by our Executive Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Diversity Officer, and our CEO, the DIB council considers relevant factors such as race/ethnicity, identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, and veteran status.

Practices to Discover Diverse Talent

We have expanded our efforts to increase the diversity of candidates hired at every level. We have leveraged roles that allow flexible/hybrid work to attract candidates outside California. We have elevated our partnership with LinkedIn to proactively source underrepresented candidates by posting all open positions globally. Within the U.S., we are partnering with historically Black colleges and universities to engage Black students studying in various technical and business fields.

Scholarships and University Endowment

For many students, the main barrier to higher education is the rising tuition cost, especially for underrepresented minority students. Our DIB scholarship program aims to ignite the spirit of advocacy in students who exemplify our commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging by advocating for others. Our goal is to support students’ continued access to higher education as they work to make the world a more equitable place.

As we increase our awareness and understanding of the challenges affecting employees in and outside of Lumentum, we are committed to bettering ourselves, our culture, and our entire organization. We continue to look for ways to leverage our resources to ensure our employees feel valued as individuals and meet their specific needs.
